Early Career Teacher Entitlement
The Early Career Teacher Entitlement (ECTE) sets out what Early Career Teachers (ECTs) should learn and be able to do at the start of their careers. It underpins a structured, two-year programme of professional development designed to build confidence, strengthen classroom practice, and develop professional knowledge and habits.
Balcarras Teaching School Hub works in partnership with UCL (Institute of Education) as its lead delivery partner for the ECTE framework. Alongside the Odyssey Teaching School Hub, we work collaboratively to ensure that all Early Career Teachers across Gloucestershire receive high-quality training that fully meets the requirements of the ECTE.
What Early Career Teachers receive
Early Career Teachers benefit from a fully funded, two-year package of support through the ECTE, including:
- Two years of high-quality training
- A dedicated mentor
- Funded training and resources for mentors
Programme options for schools
Schools can choose the delivery approach that best suits their context while meeting the requirements of the ECTE framework:
-
Provider-led (DfE funded)
Schools can choose to partner with a Lead Provider and local Delivery Partners who will design and deliver a programme of face to face and online training to ECTs and their mentors. -
School-led (no funding)
Schools can choose to develop and deliver their own training programme based on the ITTECF, fully covering all aspects of the framework. For more information click here.
