The Balcarras Trust came into existence on December 1^st 2020. It was formed by the Members and Trustees of the Balcarras Academy Trust, which as a Single Academy Trust (SAT) had oversight of Balcarras School based in Cheltenham. In 2018 Balcarras was appointed by the Regional School’s Commissioner to be the sponsor of a new secondary school for Cheltenham. That school—The High School Leckhampton—opened on September 1^st 2021. In 2023 Winchcombe School became the third member of the Trust.
